August 4th: Day 2 of the US Fullbore Nationals

The weather continued to be very warm and dry.  There has been brisk winds with the prevailing winds coming from the West.  The day started with Match 694 (15 rounds at 300 yards).  Ian Hogg was, once again, top Canadian with a score of 75.10.  The only other Canadian shooting a 75 was Alix Voorthuyzen with a 75.5.

The next shoot was Match 695 (15 rounds at 900 yards).  Top Canadians were Dave Adams and Ken Westling, both on 74.7.  They were followed closely by Patrick Champagne, Deen Mohideen and Cheryl Hearn, each firing 74.5.  The final shoot of the day was Match 696 (15 rounds at 1000 yards).  Conditions were tricky for this match as there was only one 75 fired (a magnificent 75.9 shot by Matt Ensor of Great Britain).  Top Canadians were Alix (72.6), Bob Best (71.7), Serge Bissonnette (71.5), Deen Mohideen (71.4) and Paul Tremblay (71.1).  The Day 2 Aggregate was won by Jim Bailey of Australia with a 224.29.  Top Canadians were Alix (218.18), Deen Mohideen (218.18), Nic Beaulne (217.18), Bob Best (216.19) and Ken Nelson (215.22).

Yesterday also saw the arrival of our final 2 members of the Veterans Team, Pat Vamplew and Mike Wong Shui, along with Mirko Teglasi, who made the trek around the world from Australia to join the Palma Team.  Today, we are expecting a large contingent of the Palma Team to arrive.  Today also completes the US Fullbore Nationals and World Veterans Individual Championship with Match 697 (15 rounds at 600 yards) and Match 698 (15 rounds at 1000 yards), followed by the Top 10 shoot off (15 rounds at 1000 yards).

Tomorrow is the World Veterans and World Under 25 Team matches.
